Metal powders that are not shielded from the ambient atmosphere can absorb humidity and oxidize due to the oxygen present in the surrounding air. This leads to an overall deterioration of product quality. Material degradation is almost impossible to correct within the subsequent AM/3D printing process and can lead to the costly wasting of powder or, even worse, time-consuming and expensive reworking.
